Outbound Manager

DCL Logistics is a 3PL that offers state of the art ecommerce and retail fulfillment services in the United States with facilities in California and Kentucky.

Our growing third party logistics company (3PL) seeks an Outbound Manager (OM), who will support one large and complex strategic account in the consumer technology space. This account consists of a multi-channel fulfillment strategy, B2C and B2B, as well as ancillary programs that include kitting for warranty programs, freight management, reverse logistics, and product destruction.

The OM will work as part of a team at DCL, which consists of a dedicated account manager and Logistics Coordinator as well as others who may or may not be dedicated this one client. The OM’s primary objective is to manage the B2B, B2C and Distribution Inventory for one client. This position requires reporting to the facility daily and reports to the Director of Operations in Louisville.

  • Ensure all orders are meeting SLA for each channel but doing so with 100% accuracy and error free.
  • Implement distribution processes and procedures that are going to ensure 100% accuracy.
  • Respond and provide timely root cause analysis and suggested resolution measures for mis-shipment complaints.
  • Maintain practices within quality systems and ISO standards.
  • Benchmark best practices and potential current state adjustments.
  • Understand and manage the teams dedicated to each outbound channel (B2B, B2C, other)
  • Document each channel’s specific processes and procedures
  • Continuously optimize schedule of teams to load balance orders and improve cost structure
  • Report to client a daily view of orders in each channel and any exceptions.
  • Report on and manage exceptions such as priorities, overtime, sudden demand changes, month ends, quarter ends, and year ends.
  • Report current forecast (and changes) for demand.
  • Hire and train new employees
  • Ensure all employees have completed appropriate training.
  • Develop a daily checklist of shop floor observations (such as shipments not picked up, orders picked erroneously, etc.)
Required education, knowledge, skills, and experience
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, operations or any other related field.
  • 10+ years experience in distribution, fulfillment and inventory operations with 6+ years in managerial positions specifically in outbound operations; in supply chain management, logistics, 3PL, distribution, fulfillment, pharma, medical or contract manufacturing environments; with proven experience working with C level customer contacts.
  • This is not a sales position or account management role. While this is a client-facing position, this position is for one with a deep inventory and operational background, who understands how to work collaboratively with the internal operational personnel as well as the client.
  • While the DCL Louisville warehouse is only ISO9001, a candidate who is accustomed to working in an even higher regulated warehouse with tight processes (ISO13485, pharma, food, FDA) is preferred.
  • Strong initiative, leadership, negotiating, analytical and problem-solving/trouble-shooting skills.
  • Excellent oral & written communications, interpersonal, organizational, time and project management skills.
  • Technologically-inclined. Deep experience with WMS, order management and shipping systems as well modern project collaboration technology tools.
  • Strong Excel skills for tracking/trending data and statistical analytics
