Inventory Control Manager

DCL Logistics is a 3PL that offers state of the art ecommerce and retail fulfillment services in the United States with facilities in California and Kentucky.

Our growing third party logistics company (3PL) seeks an Inventory Control Manager (ICM), who will support one large and complex strategic account in the consumer technology space. This account consists of a multi-channel fulfillment strategy, B2C and B2B, as well as ancillary programs that include kitting for warranty programs, freight management, reverse logistics, and product destruction.

The ICM will work as part of a team at DCL, which consists of a dedicated account manager and Logistics Coordinator as well as others who may or may not be dedicated this one client. The ICM’s primary objective is to maintain and improve the client’s inventory integrity through excellent process adherence, continuous improvement, awareness and inventory metric development. This position requires reporting to the facility daily and reports to the Director of Operations in Louisville.

Essesntial Functions
Design and implement an inventory tracking system for optimized inventory control procedures:
  • Lot recording, control metrics, and accuracy during movements.
  • R&D inventory maintenance (Capture and store R&D samples for every lot)
  • Maintain accurate FIFO inventory rotation
  • Isolate non-conforming inventory and liaise with quality on resolution.
  • Maintain cycle count integrity and optimal sample methodology/frequency.
  • Implement timely root cause analysis and suggested resolution measures.
  • Maintain practices within quality systems and ISO standards.
  • Benchmark best practices and potential current state adjustments
Examine the levels of raw materials and supplies to determine shortages:
  • Ensure all BOM materials are available and support planned activity.
Document daily shipments and deliveries to replenish inventory:
  • Report daily deliveries, shipments.
  • Report current forecast (and changes) for shipments and deliveries.
Create detailed reports for adjustments, inventory operations and stock levels:
  • Define inventory scorecard metrics and report results.
  • Report daily on-hold inventory and recent changes.
  • Report daily on-hand and day-over day changes and DSOH by category.
  • Report cycle count variances with timely root-cause analysis.
  • Report inventory adjustments with cause (obsolete, quality issue, etc.)
  • Report the inventory value of all adjustments by category.
Evaluating new inventory, ensuring it is ready to ship:
  • Confirm receipts are accurate and accurately put-away.
  • Confirm systems movements are consistent with paper documentation.
  • Notify quality department of variances and assist with timely resolution.
  • Confirm all paper documentation is accurately archived.
Hire and train new employees:
  • Ensure all employees have completed appropriate training.
  • Develop a daily checklist of shop floor observations (such as no inventory on receiving at close, no opened MC in the racks, etc.)
Required education, knowledge, skills, and experience
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, operations or any other related field.
  • 8+ years’ experience in inventory management/inventory controls with 4+ years in managerial positions specifically in inventory controls; in supply chain management, logistics, 3PL, distribution, fulfillment, pharma, medical or contract manufacturing environments; with proven experience working with C level customer contacts.
  • This is not a sales position or account management role. While this is a client-facing position, this position is for one with a deep inventory and operational background, who understands how to work collaboratively with the internal operational personnel as well as the client.
  • While the DCL Louisville warehouse is only ISO9001, a candidate who is accustomed to working in an even higher regulated warehouse with tight processes (ISO13485, pharma, food, FDA) is preferred.
  • Strong initiative, leadership, negotiating, analytical and problem-solving/trouble-shooting skills
  • Excellent oral & written communications, interpersonal, organizational, time and project management skills.
  • Technologically-inclined. Deep experience with WMS, inventory management systems as well modern project collaboration technology tools.
  • Strong Excel skills for tracking/trending data and statistical analytics
